Black Swan Rising

I admit it, I'm guilty of judging a book by its cover. Many books that end up in my pile are picked because of book reviews, recommendations from friends, or continuing with a series or a favorite author. But once in a while, I break away from the familiar and walk through the library, and grab books randomly. This may be from the cook book isle, the travel isle, or the lovely fiction section.

This time, it was the "new fiction" kiosk. On top, featured on one of the prominent display holders, was a gorgeous black background showing the lower half of a woman's face. The title was "Black Swan Rising." Elegant, beautiful and mysterious. Sold!

The book featured Garet James, who is swept up into an attempted murder mystery. It involves her family, with a rich European history. It goes on to include famous artists, vampires, fairies from Shakespeare and alchemy. Hey, if you you're going to go big, go all the way. Interesting, it was written by Lee Carroll. Lee Carroll is a pseudonym for a husband/wife authoring duo. Hats off to them for creating a wonderful tale!
